Black Necked Swan

One of my favourite parks in Amsterdam is Beatrixpark. It has been a couple of months since I was last in the park. At that time, there were three swans: Two black-necked swans that liked to float on the pond and a single mute swan that looked very sad and alone. It seemed to sleep every day, oblivious to everything, with its head under its wing.

Kevin and I biked to the park this evening to check on the swans. It was good to see the mute swan happily paddling with the two black necked swans. Native to South America, they are extremely rare in Europe, so I am glad they are healthy and happy. Too bad there weren't any babies...
