Coloured sand

Growing up, I remember playing with a glass lighthouse that my mother had. It was filled with layers of different coloured sands from, I think, Alum Bay on the Isle of Wight. On one of her very rare childhood holidays, she had been bought this obviously treasured memento. The layers of colour in this image brought the glass lighthouse back to my mind, and with it came my mother.
