I was in Glasgow for part of the Commonwealth Business Conference, one of the many events organised alongside the Commonwealth Games ( and I will be going to several of them in the coming days).

The sun was shining, the streets were full of brightly decorated banners, the welcome teams were much in evidence and the University was looking its best .

So I was spoilt for a blip but I thought the most striking sight was handfuls of these lapel pins strewn on every table at lunchtime and being taken ( and worn) by visitors from all the participating nations.

Glasgow will be travelling far in the weeks and months ahead.
