Cat on a Mission
It was a lovely day for my walk. I ended up heading to the Drum Estate again. It is one of my favourite places as it's so quiet and relaxing.
I sometimes meet the odd dog walker or family enjoying the scenery and the fresh air. Usually though, I can be there for over an hour and not see a single person.
The public footpath stretches from Gilmerton to Danderhall and I always walk down the hill through the estate, past Drum House to the end of the path and back again. I met this little chap about 2/3 of the way through. He is very cute and is only about 6 months old. We had met here before and he bounded across with a little meow and let me pet him for a minute.
He then walked away and I thought he would disappear back into the undergrowth. He stopped, though, and looked back as if waiting for me. I followed him and we fell into step along the path. It was clear he was on a mission. He kept looking up at me to make sure that I was still there. I like to think that he was escorting me to the other side of his domain. When we reached the end of the path about 10 minutes later, I stopped, and he turned and meowed again as if to say goodbye.
He made his way towards the house at the side of the gate to the estate, and I turned back to head home.
Another chance encounter. I do hope that we meet again :)
