Gift #62 - Mysterious thing...

Is it just me, or is the world full of mystery? What is this thing I found floating in mid-air about 4 ft off the ground? It was about 2 inches tall and was attached to the tree above by a thin thread. Is it a cocoon of some kind, or the mummified remains of a huge spider's dinner?
