Orla & Conor

Day Out in Edinburgh

Orla came to work with me this morning. She sat in my office and played Lego The Hobbit on the iPad and was no bother at all. In the afternoon we got some sandwiches from one of my usual sandwich shops and ate them in Princes St gardens, then she spent some time in the playground. After that we headed to M&S to buy her school uniform. She also managed to score a new outfit for her party on Saturday.

Once the shopping was done we bought ice lollies from one of the vans outside the National Gallery and sat under the shade of a tree listening to an excellent swing/jazz band. As we had to get back to the west end of Princes St, we decided to take the tram. It was a very short but smooth ride!

Next on the itinerary was haircuts for both of us at Charlie Miller on Stafford Street. It was the first time Orla had ever had her hair cut in a salon. Not surprisingly, she loved it and chatted away nineteen to the dozen with the hairdresser. She said she wanted curly hair, so the girl asked me if she could curl it for her and I said yes. Orla was delighted with the results and I got a wee bit emotional when I saw her! I think she's going to be disappointed though, as she thinks it's going to be curly for a month!

All in all, a fab day with my girl. I'm exhausted now mind you.
