To good to give!

During the war when certain things became scares and rationing came in a lot of things became difficult to get hold of, chocolate for instance.

My dad always use to tell me the tale of when his dad went off to war and my dad then aged 8 was told to look after his mum, my grandma,
as he was now the man of the house.

Dad would recall going into school one day and the boy sitting next to him reaching into his satchel and pulling out a banana, the other kids hadn't seen one for so long and all sat and watched him peel it and eat it in front of them, dad begged him for some banana but the lad turned round and said sorry it's too good to give!!!
