Guess How Much?

My neighbor's daughter is expecting her first baby any day. She and her husband are a lovely young couple whose wedding we attended almost two years ago. I remember seeing a lettered sign at the wedding with the words "Love you to the moon." These words are from the utterly charming children's book titled "Guess How Much I Love You", by author Sam McBratney and illustrated by Anita Jeram. It came to me a couple of weeks ago that I should make a quilt for the new baby, but what to do? Then I remembered that we have some fabric that has licensed images from that same book, and that it would be meaningful to them. This is a closeup of one of the blocks with butterflies quilted on it.
The short book is well worth a read, but be warned: have a tissue nearby! The overall theme is that, while the baby loves the parent, the parent always loves a little more. And that is how it should be!
