Day One of Proper Holiday

A day of re-packing and heading north. Before we left Edinburgh, I picked up two posters I bought from fellow blipper Stewart Bremner who has made gorgeous prints for the Yes side.

The dreaded A9, the main road between Perth and Inverness, wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. We arrived in Dornoch a little earlier than expected - go figure. We checked into our B&B for the night and found that our hostess was originally from Nova Scotia - it's great to meet fellow Canadians unexpectedly.

We walked the mile or so into town bathed in beautiful evening sun and it was still pretty light when we came back. This shot was taken around 9:45 pm or so. It reminds me of the fields of barley back home in Alberta. This prairie gal is delighted to live in Scotland but every do often I get a little homesick when I see something like this, reminding me of the vastness and endless possibility of the prairie.

A good song to accompany Albertans at the wheel.
