Tuna Tataki

Tonight, I dined like a king, solo, on fish meat. This was my first time to try Tuna Tataki. Tataki, according to Wikipedia, means "pounded" -- as in the ginger and perhaps other spices that were ground and then dusted onto this tuna -- but, as you can see, there's also some brief searing involved. Because I ate this at a Korean/Japanese fusion restaurant -- and because it's one of my all-time favourite flavors -- I dipped my Tuna Tataki into chogochujang (Korean: ????), which is a vinegared red pepper and soybean paste. Of course, my first bite was pure Tuna Tataki. It is absolutely delicious. My one regret is that I drank hot sake (it's very cold out), and not cold beer, which I believe would go quite well with this style of sashimi. Next time: Tuna Tataki and Cass!
