A Time To Reap A Time To Sow
It doesn't seem such a long time ago that farmers would rise with the sun and retire not long after darkness set in. These days darkness is just another danger for farmers to overcome with spinning ptos in wait for a tired arm as farmers push to reap harvests and plough in another crop in case the rains return. I see them every night now pushing hard to finish a field to move on and start again. The idyllic farmer calmly striding behind a plough is no more.
Tonight I brought home prawns from the harbour that had been landed after sunset. On my way home I passed a neighbour as he ploughed a field only cleared of potatoes earlier today. These same potatoes I'll have for dinner tomorrow. In many ways we have it too easy and forget to be thankful.....But sometimes I remember...and am thankful....just saying
