Time for school!

Llangenny Flute School, that is. This is its seventh year. A dozen or so flautists come to the tiny village of Llangenny to play and learn from flautist Sarah Newbold, who lives in Llangenny, and pianist Zoe Smith. Tonight was the opening concert, given by the tutors, in the old Llangenny School Room - of which this is the roof. It was very hot. So was the music. One charming and dazzling little piece was for piccolo and alarm clock. You don't hear that combination very often!

On Friday, the students get to play. It's always a remarkable and sobering occasion. They are so good!
