Northern Royal Albatross
Yesterday it was the yellow-eyed penguin but today we visited the Royal Albatross Colony on the Otago Peninsula. Although we saw birds flying from the car park, it was worth doing the tour which included 30 minutes in the observatory with a view of three nests. WE could also see a colony of Stewart Island shags. The Northern Royal Albatross is the only species in the world that can be observed on the mainland.
