This is Montbretia - just coming into flower.

They call these copper tips or falling stars in the States, but in the UK monbretia. The genus name Crocosmia comes from the Greek for krokos, meaning "saffron", and osme, meaning "odour" - from the fact that dried leaves emit a strong smell like that of saffron (a spice that comes from Crocus)
It is a favourite of mine because it reminds me of my maternal grand-pa Tommy Stewart, who always had these in his garden in Sion Mills, Tyrone. He called it "Orange Lily", devoted Ulsterman that he was!
