Indignity

A glorious morning for our walk which started at Dick Hudson's at the bottom of Bingley Moor. We could hear these sheep being herded into a pen as we set off in the opposite direction.

Walking below the road to start with we crossed the gallops used for Harvey/Stephen Smiths's show horses. Sadly we only saw them being walked in the distance.

Crossing over the road we headed up the moor where there were lots of Grouse around with their young and the heather looked about to burst into bloom.

As we returned to the Dick Hudson's we could see this guy about to shear a sheep and asked if we could watch. He didn't mind but said he was only learning.

He did a good job but the poor sheep certainly looked a bit put out. He said the wool would probably only bring about 40p a kilo and the shearing was really done for the sheep's comfort and to get rid of maggots etc! The lambs will not be sheared for another year.
