The Best Birthday Present

Today we celebrated my daughters fourteenth birthday on the first day of the summer holiday and a national holiday (Marine Day) which meant that my wife was home too. What was my daughter's best birthday present? Being allowed to read as much as she wanted without the parents bugging her to do her homework.

I always get to buy the birthday cakes (including my own.) I'm more of a eat to live than a live to eat person, but I do appreciate cakes. Today's was a delicious chocolate pistachio with a solid chocolate base and a raspberry jam layer inside, sprinkled with nuts around the lower half and topped with almonds, raspberries, blueberries and chocolate. A fine choice, even if I do say so myself.
