A Lunch Date

It was grey and murky, but not cold. We headed to the lovely village of Blakeney so we could walk the coastal path to Cley-next-the-Sea. We did this last year and then had a yummy lunch in the George Hotel. BB remembered this and wanted to go again. He was very happy to walk as he knew what was at the end of it! We saw a little of the devastation of the high tides last December – parts of the path and sea defences have been washed away. Temporary measures have been put in place which is excellent, but it makes you think about the vulnerability of these coastal areas.

Weather-wise it was dull, with a wind from the east. This just added to the atmosphere of walking across the marshland and it made me think of Great Expectations. The weather was brightening all the time though and the sun was out by the time we reached our destination and a lovely lunch was enjoyed by all.

We had a walk around Cley, before walking back to Blakeney.

Here’s a long abandoned boat in the marshlands.
