Is This My Best Side?
Regular readers of my blipfoto journal are probably beginning to realise that I have two distinct sides - seasoned city worker and contented country girl. The thing is that when I'm slaving away in the jam-packed and bustling West End, I really miss being near open fields and miles of trees and birdsong. And when I've spent a while in the peace of the shires, and changed down a few gears, I start to miss the sheer volume and choice of readily available culture in London. The idea of working a couple of days a week there from next spring is becoming more and more appealing, so the current aim is to find out if this can be turned into reality.
The Church of St Laurence, Cholesbury, near where I live, is truly a country village church. This cow and her friend amble about and graze in a field right next to the churchyard. As I was leaving this afternoon, they were both tucking into their equivalent of a bag of crisps - a freshly-mown pile of grass cuttings by the gate. You've never heard so much snorting and chomping and digestive rumblings as these two were making! It was hard coaxing them to get their noses out of such a tasty snack, but this one nearly ate my camera when she eventually raised her head. Then she turned to show her best side, the evidence of all that greedy gobbling clearly visible on her snout.
