A time for everything

Solitary duck amidst the evening stillness

Sunday
A lovely service at church this morning, followed by a "vin d'honneur" in honor of an adult baptism, and also marking the last Sunday of our current locum chaplain, who has been with us for six weeks. We have been so blessed by these special people who have been prepared to give up their life of retirement in the U.K. and come and serve an unknown congregation in an unknown place for anything from 6 weeks to three months. They have all been so different, but sharing their special and unique gifts. However, each time it seems to get harder to say goodbye.
After lunch, we were planning to go for a walk in the Forest, however the storms, which were forecast for late afternoon, arrived earlier, and the heavens opened, so we changed our plans and settled for a quiet afternoon at home, though Roger did venture out for a bike ride later in the afternoon, when things seemed to have blown over. After dinner, we both went for a gentle stroll by the river, where I took this shot looking across to Samois and the bridge across to l'Île du Berceau. Home again, the thunder is once more beginning to rumble in the distance. I had a rough night last night - couldn't get to sleep for ages, then once I finally did fall asleep, the thunder woke me up! Let's hope I can do better tonight!
