Aix en Provence
During the Middle Ages Aix was the capital of Provence. Aix really only came to fruition in the 13th century. Under the regime of the houses of Aragon and Anjou grew Aix-en-Provence from an artistic center and became a university established. Aix made together with the rest of the Provence 1487 from a part of France. In 1501 Louis XII established the Parliament of Provence in Aix. In the 17th and 18th centuries Aix remained important as administrative, educational and administrative center of Provence.
