Vegas Baby !

I am back in Vegas and the weather is very warm but quite cloudy. I haven't spent much time in the south end of the strip (Las Vegas Boulevard) for a while, well since I ran a half-marathon here dressed as Elvis a few years back. It's been good to make some time trying to take in the views and I think this is the first time I have sat and been able to see so many casinos all at once. I am always so busy rushing around doing things that I don't stop and stare. It was too warm to stay there till all the lights came on sadly. Photo taken from The Mix Bar at Manadalay Bay.

The pool party season is in full flow, this phenomenon has passed me by until now. It seems you stand in a pool, filled with lots of other people (so no one can swim) chatting, drinking and being loud whilst a DJ plays some music, not very good music to boot, not really my bag. I think if you are a gym bunny this would be something you may like.

Last night I spent the eveing sleeping in The Luxor which is a mid-price (read reasonable on a Saturday) Egyptian themed casino (see the big pyramid- yes that is the hotel) the elevators go up at an angle! It's very much the family orientated part of the strip. The Exchaliber Hotel (colourful turrets) was heaving yesterday when I wanted to get food. When I finally ate I was presented with a HUGE salad that was literally a bag of rocket, a bag of spinach, a bag of lettuce and other things ( I am suspecting a flock of seaguls despite the fact it sounded like the salad merely nodded to meat on the menu). I actually smelled of grass afterwards.

Today I move further north to stay in the most luxurious place of my trip ( I decided I couldn't afford to stay there last night! The prices are crazy in Vegas if you want a Fri or Saturday night and are often a third of the price at other days of the week). Todays plans involve walking and eating brunch at The Wynn. If I am feeling up to it I am going to seek out a fab Gothy clothing shop and a place that sells frozen custard in the 'scary' part of town. . . we'll see how brave I feel :-) P.S Mr H just said we are not doing the frozen custard thing, this has hardened my resolve! :-)
