Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides)
These 3 Tawny Frogmouth's live in the tree right outside the door of the ladies toilet and shower block. If other people hadn't been looking at them, I would not have seen them, which is correct as I hadn't seen them in the time we have been here, and they have been there everyday.
They are very good at blending in with the trees. I have only ever seen one, once before, and that was because someone showed it to us. It was sitting in the branch of a gum tree and just looked like part of the tree.
I took this this morning, as the owner was using a blower to clear away the leaves on the path. One of the ladies wanted to know their secret for sleeping right through all the noise that it made.
Yesterday evening, after doing my blips, there was a Kookaburra sitting in a tree, and again this morning.
Been quite hot today, getting tidied up and ready to leave here in the morning and head for Forest Beach, out on the coast from Ingham.
