No Living Thing

As I coast down the hill on my bike, I'm greeted by the sight of a big pile of coal and a lot of trains. I initially took a photo of the trains. I like trains, so why wouldn't I? Then I noticed the row, upon row, upon row of steel hoppers wrapped around black coal. On dead ground.

I cropped out the top of the image to focus on the curve of hopper cars, but there wasn't anything growing there either. Just a big pile of steel girders and tanks.

Vancouver is a beautiful, green city with lots to do and many ways to stay green and healthy. Nice to see humans still manage to balance it out with this.
