Going up!

Just after midnight I was heading home by car from an evening in London, and joined the back of a short queue on Tower Bridge. What could be causing the holdup at that time of night? Then I realised, the centre part of the bridge was being raised to let some late night river traffic go through.

Wow. It gave me a thrill of childish excitement. In all the years - most of my life - that I have lived in or near London, I have never before been on the bridge when it opened, although I have seen it from nearby many times.

It is a slow process, especially when you're keen to get home at a late hour, but it was an exciting end to an entertaining evening. Also a good way to celebrate my 200th blip!
