Are captured here in my quotation marks

Boy was always an eager listener, and once his reading was up to par, if I wasn't reading fast enough, or long enough, the book was whipped from my hands and he read it himself.

Tooli, on the other hand was a watcher. She watched everything that was happening around her, listened to stories, and then looked; looked to see if anything in the stories could be happening around about her. The concern was that things in a book, might actually be taking place ... choice of book had to be chosen with care. The Worst Witch.... The Secret Seven... Gentle stories, like Mog, and Alfie and Annie Rose....

Boy's love for books has flourished, and has taken the natural progression from reading to writing; and the imagination of others which fired him when he was younger, has buried itself deep in his head and his stories often leave me crinkle brow wondering just where his train of thought comes from.

Tooli, left books behind and found joy in numbers, and equations. Things that were possible, or proven to be impossible; the science, not the fiction. Could I get her to read for pure enjoyment. No I could not.

The other month, she uttered those words, I had been longing to hear, "There's a book I want to read". I downloaded it, immediately on Kindle. Did she read it? Did she heck as like.

But then, she started work. In the quiet down times at work, she took to picking up the books that lie scattered around the office. Detective stories appeared to be the choice of the day... or what she called "CSI" books. Then, she picked up
The Time Traveler's Wife.

This is she a week after starting it; so far engrossed in it, she had to bring it home to finish it off. I sat watching her with baited breath. When I reached around the page she was at I realised how the book was to end, and I sobbed for the next 40 pages and for another 20 minutes once I had put the book down.

But of course, for my little science head, it was a story, it wasn't real, and therefore no need for tears, but she did enjoy it - maybe there will be another one after this!
