Vasa

This is the transom of the ship Vasa which is being beautifully conserved in the Vasamuseet in Stockholm. We were a bit undecided about going to the museum but it was worth every penny and you can see where those working on the Mary Rose would have benefitted somewhat from the work on the Vasa. It sank on its maiden voyage in 1628 in the harbour because it was top heavy. The carvings on it are amazing.

Great day in Stockholm, we move on tomorrow but I think we will definitely come back another time!

We have been amused by the fact that a lift in Swedish is a Hiss. Very onomatopœic.
