Fragments at the Forum

I've never been in a position to see this view in the Forum before but, tonight, I was.

A horrible start to the day with the news of the plane shot down.
Shit continues in Gaza.
A hot but productive day at work.
Thought provoking views regarding the Assisted Dying Bill.
An evening attending a book launch which I reluctantly attended at the invitation of Roland but which I was so, so pleased I agreed to.

The book is by Mick Collins, a lecturer at UEA, entitled 'The Unselfish Spirit: human evolution in a time of global crisis'. The event was organised by a former colleague of mine and it was lovely to see her and her son, her daughter and her grand-daughters - one of whom was taking photos at the event (she's 11!). My former boss from 2009 was also there - an amazing and inspirational woman who has continued to be a friend and supporter - and it was great to catch up with her too.

I don't recall the name of the film which was shown but one quote from the Dalai Lama has stayed with me. I think he was talking about political activism. 'Think critically. Then act'.

Things are good for me right now but on the bigger scale things seem - as ever - fragmented.

Need to get my final shit together for the Pride Without Prejudice exhibition. We hang on Sunday, and my bit is focusing on 'Pride and Joy'.
