Catch as catch can
Today Penelope and I visited Newcastle.
We started with a journey down memory lane to our old hall of residence - demolished and replaced by a small development of houses!
Then to the coast to Whitley Bay. It was low tide so we walked to St Mary's Lighthouse. We met a delightful man on his Royal Enfield motor cycle, who came close to being blipped.
Lunch in Cullercoats was followed by meeting Gill, another flatmate from the 70s, at the Sage. Here are Gill and Penelope in the nearyby Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, enjoying Daniel Buren's installation, "Catch as catch can". As the light moves in the sky, so the coloured lights move on the floor and walls. We loved it. (We found Lydia Gifford's exhibition left us cold..........)
Then it was time to go our separate ways. Twelve years since we last met - if we wait that long again we will all be 74........!!
