Morning walk in Tullisaari
Tullisaari is a part of our island, but with the current heatwave we took the dogs there in a car. Walked around over an hour and came back with the car. Ever since they have been mostly sleeping the heat away.
The history of Tullisaari can be counted to 1558. There's a mention of a Turholm (Tullisaari in Swedish) estate. Rich and famous have lived in the area. Most famous must have be Aino Ackté (23 April 1876 – 8 August 1944). She was a Finnish soprano. She was the first international star of the Finnish opera scene after Alma Fohström, and a groundbreaker for the domestic field. She died of pancreatic cancer in August 1944. (Facts from wikipedia)
Her Villa is still in Tullisaari. This is her Villa which is in use even today. They let people in once a week few hours at time during summer period. The villa is being rented by the city for cultural activities and meetings. The garden around the Villa is really nice and it's a popular are to have a picnic or just spend the day in sun. (I hope the links work.)
