The Grand Tour....

....in the 1800s, British tourists would spend months leisurely touring the thirteen jewels (towns & villages) of the Neapolitan Riviera and Amalfi coast. Today, we did it in one day. A hair raising public bus journey on typically tiny roads clinging to the cliffs, with stops for water and ablutions before the Circumvesuviana train from Sorento to Napoli at the foot of Vesuvius then a fast train to Salerno before a final public bus to Vietri. Pooped, but all the necessary touristing done in a day for a frugal 10 Euro a head. Now to get on with relaxing.
