Invisible

As I walked along the path, I was conscious of being watched, not by the birds and creatures of the forest, but by 6 motionless figures. They were almost imperceptible among the bracken and leaves as they stood silently there.

The mirrored stainless steel lifesize figures were designed by Rob Mulholland to make people think about man’s impact on the surrounding landscape over the years. After the First World War there was a massive shortage of timber so large forests were planted with the small hill farmers and crofters relocated. Now in many of Scotland’s forests remains can be found of the abandoned houses and buildings. So it was quite thought provoking thinking of those who had lived there many years ago where now only wild creatures remain.
