Sneak peek at the national sport

The Finnish national sport, Pesäpallo (or Finnish baseball), being played at the local Pesäpallo field, one of the several sport shrines of Joensuu I walk past in the Mehtimäki area on daily basis.

My old small home town Kitee is crazy about Pesäpallo, as Kitee's team has won three Finnish championships in the past and is currently chasing my current home town Joensuu's team at the better half of Finnish major league standings, thus making it the only team sport in Kitee even remotely approaching Finnish top level status.

This particular game didn't seem to be a men's major league game, thus the small amount of spectators.
