Bingley Five Rise Lock

What a wonderful day today has been - although just a little too hot for Polly dog.
We decided a gentle stroll along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal was the order of the day.
This Five Rise Lock Staircase is just about the most spectacular feature on the Canal.
The locks open directly from one to another, with the top gate of one forming the bottom gate of the next. This unique 5-rise staircase has a total rise of 60 feet.
At the top of the locks is a rather pleasant cafe where we sat out and had Traditional Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream for three (Me, Mrs MD & Polly).
Altogether a most agreeable day :-)
