Stampede Hangover Picnic
today I attended the first energy event in town, posh luncheon at the Sheraton Suites but I am happy to say that my first energy event was organised by Clean Energy Canada; as part of their Low Carbon Leadership Speaker series they had invited Michael Osborne from Texas who was instrumental in making Texas one of the leading solar energy states in the US (admittedly he was not a good speaker but then he did make things happen back in Texas); it was a lovely day so I walked there and met a number of really interesting people; in the evening I attended the Stampede Hangover picnic just around the corner; it was great fun, it was Delirium street.party.brass (Calgary) and Lemon Bucket Orkestra (Toronto) playing and they were fun; the latter reminded me a bit of the Leningrad Cowboys, they label themselves Balkan-Klezmer-Gypsy-Party-Punk-Super-Band (you can see them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22A5UO0pzRc); they played in what seems to be a temporary site made of containers called ContainR (http://springboardperformance.com/containr/#containr-sunnyside) but there are fears that it will soon be a construction ground for more upscale condos
