My cousin
P. celebrates a birthday today, and a successful harvest of barley (amongst other things). Our great-grandfather's grandfather, the Rev'd William Parker of Little Comberton, was presented with this fine tankard by Messrs Blizard & Co, Maltsters, of Tewkesbury, for producing the best two hundred bushels of barley in the growth of 1858.
It seems to have been well used over the years, by hands perhaps made a little unsteady by the fermentation of the malt.
Happy birthday, cousin. Hope you enjoy a pint this evening.
