Just read Ed Viesturs book about K2, talk about a f....n' crazy obsession.

On K2 in August 2008 eleven climbers died in a 36 hour period.
As of May 2009 299 people have stood on top of K2 while 77 have died on it's flanks, which means that for every 4 climbers who reach the summit at least one dies.
