Cold feet anyone ?

Restocking the peanuts etc for the birds, I called in at a local garden centre where they have a few antiques and there was this charming old item - A crock Philpott's foot warmer. It claims to be a "daring design" and I found a few advertised on Ebay of course...

"Stoneware footwarmer. Measures approximately 10" long by 5" wide with flat bottom. Original black stoneware cap. Written in black ink on both sides are the words:
