Tregonning Hill

We stayed at Nevada Farm, about 3 miles from Helston, at the foot of Tregonning Hill.

Tregonning Hill is one of two granite outcrops near Helston, and is an SSI. It is here where Cookworthy discovered china clay. The extraction of china clay in Cornwall and its use in the production of fine porcelain brought prosperity to the region in the 18th century. The clay pit is still there today.

At the summit of the hill, near the trig point, is the Germoa War Memorial to the men of the Germoa Parish who fell in two world wars.

It's a great view.
