Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Badge

Up at Stirling Castle this evening and saw this badge on display at the esplanade. Apparently there is a similar badge on Dumyat, which is the tallest hill behind the Wallace Monument in the background of the photo. It was placed there in 1967 in remembrance of fallen Argylls. Unfortunately it is now in a state of disrepair and this fibre glass template is about to be pressed into a stainless steel mould and taken up to Dumyat to replace the old one. It is hoped it will be in place before Remembrance Day, when traditionally people climb Dumyat to the memorial to pay tribute. Apparently this is being done through donations and this plaque is to feature in local newspapers to highlight the cause.
