Mother and Child at Life Skills Clinic

This morning we went to the Diocesan Life Skills Clinic. It is run by Evas, an occupational therapist and Jones, a physiotherapist and it happens once a month. On clinic days, Mum and carers are invited to bring their disabled children along for the morning to see Evas and Jones, to meet one another and be encouraged by stories and witnesses of successful surgery. There were many seriously handicapped children, with cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, spinobifida, club foot, epilepsy etc. This little boy is suffering from malnutrition and Evas spent time explaining to his mother what simple food to prepare for him to make him healthier. Some of the volunteers found it a hard morning to deal with, but it was good to play with the children and talk to the mums and to see the support the church is providing for them.
