Arno reflections

First thing this morning, I took the lift up to the top of the hotel and went out on the roof terrace. It offered brilliant views of the Florentine skyline including the Duomo, the Palazzo Vecchio and the Basilica Santa Croce. However, I was most taken by the reflections in the nearby Arno of the villas on the other side of the river.

After a quick visit to a nearby market, and a pit stop for coffee with my friend Jelena, it was off to the airport. Another friend who had been at the conference and who was travelling back to Cambridge was still there - when he should have been off and away. In the end, his flight to City Airport was delayed by three hours. My flight and connection at Schiphol were, by contrast, perfectly smooth. Almost as smooth as the river, in fact.
