TDF Stage 11; Bastille Day
The French are ecstatic because their boy made up sufficient time yesterday to become the overall race leader and thus don the yellow jersey for July 14th - Bastille Day. It's a big day in France celebrating the French Revolution.
To commemorate the event in the Tour de France the Maillot Jaune not only wears the jersey but also has everything else in yellow - shades, helmet and even his bike.
La Palmyre's town magician has got caught up in the patriotic fever and has sprayed his four wheeled velocipede a bright yellow to register his delight. he was great fun and involved the children and had everyone laughing.
He enrolled to 10 year old assistants and got them to do his handkerchief disappearing trick in unison with him. So when he got to the point where they all tapped their clenched fists with a hanky inside, he opened his hand which was , of course, empty. Then he feigned a double take when the girls still had their squares in their open hands. great fun.
