Wizards Well

Legend has it that this well is where the iron gates appeared to the man who was unable to sell his mare at Macklesfield. As he entered the cave, he saw hundreds of warriors and milk white horses sleeping. He sold his mare to the Merlin the Wizard, so that all King Arthur's knights would have a horse when they awoke and were needed in England's time of trouble.
