Death Comes to Pemberley

Death Comes to Pemberley

I was in Aylesbury centre today and 'snapped' the Crown Court as a backdrop for another book. The novel, Death Comes to Pemberley, by P.D.James, is a very well-crafted 'sequel' to 'Pride and Prejudice'. James has done very well to emulate the style of Austen and the language is just stunning. The crime element is very gentle and ends satisfactorily for everyone - surprising though.

The gorgeous Darcy is a magistrate and a lot of the book focuses on the court case - before, during and after - as it revolves around Pemberley and its occupants, so fits the bill.  If you like Austin then you'll certainly like this but you'll need a dictionary, as there is some eccentric language in places, as befits the style.
