To Manchester by Ship Canal

Manchester is only about 30 miles from Liverpool. You can catch a stopping train which takes about an hour, or try your luck on one of two motorway connections which take anything from an hour to....., or you can go by boat down the ship canal. Through locks, under swing bridges, hydraulic bridges, swing aquaduct, viaduct, pedestrian bridges etc. A 6 hour trip. Return by coach having had a full history lesson.
