Female Keeled Skimmer Dragonfly

(Orthetrum coerulescens.)

About two inches long. Females have a yellowish-brown abdomen, as here, whereas males have a blue abdomen.


This photo was taken not with a macro lens, but with the camera's "standard" 18-105mm lens at minimum distance (about 8 ins) and at maximum zoom. It has also been cropped a little.
