Maisie - a little ball of mischief!
Continuing the exhaustive (exhausting) pub/cafe dog training, we walked across to Montpelier’s for lunch. It’s just a good stroll across the Links for Archie - maybe pick up a few sticks, maybe meet another dog. He was off the lead and we tried calling him using outstretched arms as MaggieD suggested. Felt a bit daft, mind you...
Montpelier's has been done up (for the third time since we’ve been here) and it’s the best version yet. Dog friendly in the front area too. Great menu, including sharing plates, lots of different beers, and no loud muzak. Perfect.
Archie lay down and watched the goings on. No treats to occupy him - just the occasional piece of kibble. What a wee smasher he is. The meals (two for £10!) were excellent.
We had a visitor this afternoon. A little female schnauzer called Maisie. She’s only a month younger than Archie, but she’s tiny.
Don’t let the photo fool you. She was a feisty wee lass -
She growled at him
She barked at him
She snapped at him
She licked his dishes
She climbed into a kitchen cupboard (Archie has never done this)
She poked around in his bed
She played with all his toys
She took his football
Then...
… She piddled on his kitchen floor
He just did not know what to make of her. He didn’t growl or bark in return, just kept backing off and wanting to sit up on knees away from this little tornado invading his house. It was so funny.
His behaviour could have been construed as being wimpish… but we prefer to think he was being kind and considerate to the wee kid. It was so hard to get a photo of them together as he tended to be as far away from her as possible at all times.
She is very very cute. But Archie is a very very good boy, not minding that she did all these things. The breeders we got him from said their pups were bred for good temperament, and Archie proves this time and again.
