Proof of life

On final approach.

On my morning run (slow slog, more like), spotted these flowers perfectly designed for bumble bees. The bees merrily slotted into the perfect little tunnels in the middle of the flower and reversed out again once they were happy. Fascinating to watch.

The flowers are, I am reliably informed, Himalayan Balsam (Impatiens glandulifera), so obviously you'll find them on the banks of the Forth. Something of a noxious weed, I gather, but was cat nip for bees.
