The BFI on the Southbank is becoming a regular London haunt - I suppose I'm slightly more at home in a cinema than in a theatre. I went to two contrasting films in the BFi's Chinese season - this one was 'Spring in a Small Town' - a quiet, subtle post war masterpiece. I'd seen a remake about 10 years ago, but had no idea it was a remake until now. The other film was 'A Touch of Zen' - an epic, psychedelic, martial arts film from the late 60's. Really enjoyable, despite it being over 3 hours long, and hugely influential.
