Feeling foolish!

I often need to wear a bandage on my right hand due to the nerve damage sustained in surgery a couple of years ago.

Last night (whilst preparing a feast for the whole family who came round to celebrate my parents' wedding anniversary) I gashed a big hole in my left hand whilst attempting to remove a rather stubborn avocado stone from its fruit. Did the necessary things of apply pressure and hold it aloft and, when bleeding stopped, my brother dressed it nice and firmly. This morning it was still bleeding and feeling very unhappy so we spent a couple of hours in A&E. The lovely nurse cleaned it out, applied a large amount of steri-strips and a bandage.

A friend of mine suggested that I now look as if I've had a fight with a bear... or a dragon!

At least the left one will only be needed for 5 days or so, the right one is needed indefinitely.
